"Welcome to the New Mayan Calendar Cycle"
Those of you who are familiar with the Mayan calendar (see the earlier article Astrological Indicators, Prophesies and Predictions - Part 1) will know that we have entered the 9th and last cycle of the Mayan calendar timeline.
The official start time of this cycle, which some people have referred to as the cycle of Conscious Co-Creation, was Feb 10 of this year.
As with all transitions the change from one cycle to the next doesn't happen suddenly at a particular moment but is more often than not a gradual shift. So with the Mayan calendar cycle that change would have started perhaps a few months earlier and will pick up pace after Feb 10.
The main point being that the Mayan calendar predicts a shift in consciousness around about this time leading to an acceleration in change and transformation on this planet.
Have we not seen this in abundance in the last few months? One of the most visible expressions of this is with what is happening in the middle east.
All of a sudden there is an upwelling of the urge for freedom, for justice, for a fairer society. Who would have thought this possible even 6 months ago.
Doesn't it seem odd that all of a sudden there is this unrest and a willingness to fight for one's rights sweeping over a large area of the world?
To those familiar with the Mayan calendar it is not so strange, it is in fact consistent with a change of consciousness which will see the old ways die out and be replaced by a much more enlightened and spiritual approach.
A time where change happens at a much faster pace. What used to take one year to achieve previously will take about 20 days now. This is the length of the Mayan calendar day/night subdivisions for this cycle.
Of course all major transitions must of necessity involve some disruptions and struggle with those forces that want to maintain the status quo.
We can expect to see further unrest and disruption as we progress along the new cycle.
I would imagine that this unrest in the middle east will spread further in the coming months, probably engulfing Iran at some point - although unfortunately there is likely to be a lot of bloodshed before that regime is overthrown.

We can also look at this astrologically, there are a number of interesting transits happening in the next few months.
Firstly we had the planet Jupiter moving into the sign of Aries on the 22nd of January.
Jupiter is a planet representing truth, justice, expansion and growth.
Aries represents a fiery, impulsive sign that doesn't like to be told what to do.
When you combine those two you have an energy that will definitely support a fight for justice and freedom.
This is consistent with events, as we have seen unrest really picking up with the protests in Egypt which started around 25th of January.
Then next significant transition astrologically occurs on the 12th of March when Uranus moves into Aries as well. It will stay in Aries for a long time.
Uranus is another planet that doesn't like restrictions and the status quo. Uranus perhaps more than any other planet represents the urge of freedom. It is a nonconformist that hates restrictions.
Uranus also represents sudden and unexpected change, and the new and unusual.
When you combine these qualities with those associated with Aries as described above you get the sense that we are going to see a lot more of the type of thing we have been witnessing in the middle east.
The combination of Uranus and Aries can also unfortunately point to more violence and death in the struggle for freedom.
This is not made any better by some of the other transits happening in the next few months.
Firstly we have the Sun also moving into the sign Aries on 21st of March.
But more significantly Mars itself, which rules Aries and has similar qualities already described for Aries, moves into Aries on the 2nd of April.
Mars is fiery, impulsive and wilful, it promotes fighting rather than compromise. This becomes magnified when Mars is in its own sign of Aries, where it will stay for a few months.

In addition, on the 4th of April Mars will conjunct or contact Uranus. The configuration of Mars and Uranus in Aries is an explosive combination.
On top of that, about the same time we have an opposition in the sky between Saturn and both Sun and Jupiter.
An opposition represents a struggle between two forces, in this case Saturn which represents restriction and the status quo and Sun/Jupiter combination representing bringing to light truth and justice.
If that wasn't enough, around the 12th of March we have Mars squaring Pluto in the sky.
Pluto is currently in the sign Capricorn and is stirring things up that relate to that sign, as discussed in a previous article (Astrological Indicators, Prophesies and Predictions - Part 1).
Capricorn basically represents institutions, authority, restrictions, the status quo. Pluto is shaking these up and Mars squaring Pluto magnifies the tensions even more.
Mars is not done yet, on 18th of April it goes into opposition to Saturn. Although this opposition doesn't last long it once again points to a struggle between the establishment and the will of the people.
In April there is a total of five planets in the fiery and impulsive sign of Aries.
All in all it looks like the next few months, and in particular April, will be tomaltous and eventful.

This unrest and urge for freedom is not only limited to countries that have autocratic rulers, it will eventually spread to so called democratic countries.
Most 'democracies' as we know them are not true democracies but are controlled by special interests that buy influence with the politicians and get what they want at the expense of the general population. Ironically this is particularly true in the US which is meant to be a beacon of democracy.
We are already seeing signs of these with the protests in Greece, Iraq and even in the US with the protests by the unions.
There is something stirring in the global consciousness that is wanting change.
One of the best examples is the WikiLeaks phenomenon.
The fact that they received such a large volume of material shows that there are many principled people in the government sector and the services who don't want to go along with the lies and injustices but are guided by moral principles.
We have the people spontaneously getting together, with the help of the Internet and the social media, in order to effect change.
Here in Australia we have the group GetUp!, among others, whose campaigns are fully guided and financed by their many members, that support worthy causes and try to create social change. For example by putting ads in mainstream newspapers in support of various causes such as WikiLeaks's right to publish and whose message even made it to the US Congress (see the video below).
"GetUp Ad presented by Ralph Nadar to Congressional Hearing"

On the international stage we have a similar approach used by the Avaaz group to provide a forum for people's voices to be heard and to effect change. They have over 7,000,000 members worldwide, and growing.
Recently in the US the organizations MoveOn & US Uncut formed to protest and challenge the inequities in the system, whereby for example a majority of the large corporations pay zero tax while while at the same time the workers rights are under threat.
Another example is the Zeitgeist Movement who are trying to create awareness of how our monitary system really works, and coming up with more sustainable models for our society.
The latest Zeitgeist Movement video shown below does a brilliant job of exposing the truth of what really goes on below the surface. Their final scene could turn out to be rather prophetic given what is going on in the middle is right now.

All these things give me optimism that we can create a better world through people power.
People are starting to realise that even though they haven't got the firepower they have numbers on their side.
There are a relatively small number of people that control the different countries. It is these individuals that make the major decisions that affect people's lives, such as whether to got to war, what laws to enact etc.
Those in power use the corporate media which they own either directly or through major shareholding to manipulate public opinion in favour of what they want.
However this only works if people go along with it, if they refuse to cooperate the whole power structure falls apart. As we have seen by recent events in the middle east you cannot threaten a whole population to do something they don't want to do.
If world leaders want to fight each other but the people refuse to do the fighting for them what can they do?
The whole power structure relies on keeping the population in the dark, once people discover the truth the whole game is over.

I would like to emphasise that while such things as the Internet and social media are important tools in bringing out the truth, in my view they are not the main driving force for the transformation.
It is the evolution of consciousness as discussed previously that is the driving force.
People are becoming innately more aware of what is going on. We particularly see this in the young generation who are not so easily fooled by propaganda and mind manipulation.
Awareness is growing from within, and has just taken a great leap forward when we moved into the next Mayan calendar cycle.
So on a personal level, it is important to focus our thought energy on what we want to create, on the positive, for in this cycle our thoughts are turned to reality faster and easier than ever before.
